Swancor promotes carbon capture and utilization (CCUS) projects to help carbon peak and carbon neutrality

The concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere has increased from 280 ppm before the industrial revolution to 410 ppm. This has led to a series of ecological and environmental problems such as global warming, melting polar glaciers, and rising sea levels. To this end, reducing greenhouse gases and protecting the earth's home has become the unanimous demand of more and more countries, and it is natural that reducing CO2 emissions has also become the top priority of China's response to ecological and environmental problems.


On September 22, 2020, General Secretary Xi Jinping solemnly announced at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly: "China will increase its nationally determined contributions, adopt more powerful policies and measures, strive to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030, and strive to achieve carbon neutrality before 2060." From December 16 to 18, 2020, the Central Economic Work Conference listed "doing a good job in carbon peak and carbon neutrality" as one of the eight major tasks in 2021, and required to speed up the formulation of an action plan for carbon emission peak before 2030, accelerate the adjustment and optimization of the industrial structure and energy structure, promote coal consumption to peak as soon as possible, vigorously develop new energy, carry out large-scale land greening actions, and improve the carbon sink capacity of the ecosystem.


Carbon capture solutions help to significantly reduce CO2 emissions in hard-to-abate industries across a wide range of feedstocks and applications: power, steel, cement, industrial, petrochemical, and more. CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) refers to the industrial process of separating carbon dioxide from emission sources or directly using or storing it to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. CCUS technology is considered to be one of the important technical paths to deal with climate change, so the plan proposes that by the end of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", a number of key basic theories and technologies of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) will be broken through, the cost and energy consumption will be significantly reduced, the design and integration capacity of the megaton CCUS system will be formed, the research and development platform and innovation base of the CCUS system will be built, and the whole process of carbon dioxide capture, utilization and storage will be built with a scale of 30-500,000 tons/year.

The carbon capture system is mainly composed of flue gas pretreatment system, absorption and regeneration system, compression and drying system, refrigeration and liquefaction system, etc. The links involved involve the corrosion of flue gas treatment system and adsorbent, and with the assistance of Shangwei's R&D team, the phenolic vinyl ester resin 907 series products are selected to be applied to the carbon capture system, and the projects that have been cooperated with involve domestic demonstration projects: Tangshan Yannan Cement Co., Ltd. cement kiln tail gas capture and purification food-grade 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide (dry ice) environmental protection technology project, Xinfa Group Haoji Power Plant boiler flue gas CCUS annual output of 300,000 tons of carbon and nitrogen co-generation project.
